Objective:

The Torbay Newfoundland Pony Project is a charitable organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Newfoundland Ponies. The project began as a group of pony owners and enthusiasts. The group occasionally hosted pony rides and gathered for fence building.

The Society convinced the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador that the Newfoundland Pony was a living part of the provinces cultural history and as such, required legal protection before there were too few ponies to maintain a healthy population.

Port of Argentia Freshwater

Objective:

Port of Argentia is a private not-for-profit corporation mandated to provide effective stewardship of the seaport and industrial property at Argentia, NL to enhance the regions economic vitality and quality of life. Port of Argentia owns and operates the Northside Industrial Park, Southside Industrial Park and Argentia Sunset RV Park. In combination, these three Parks include some 1,200 hectares of developed industrial land, and 46,000 square metres of commercial building space. The Port is a premier heavy industrial seaport offering ice-free, year-round access, a wide turning basin, heavy lift capacity, with up to 11-metre draught alongside 645 metres of dock facilities and features a variety of stevedoring, transportation, crane and other dock services available on site in support of both domestic and international container shipping. The Port is certified by Transport Canada as compliant under the Marine Transportation Security Regulations (MTSR), with dock facilities surrounded by a 40-hectare secure fenced compound.
