Sean Nos Dancing Troupe – Branch Branch

Objective:

The Sean Nos Dancing Troupe features a traditional style of dancing that originated in the Connemara region (west coast of Ireland). The low to ground stepping out to the music, is very relaxed and similar to tap dance. Sean Nos dancing is a very impromptu, rhythmic, and low key accompaniment to a lively traditional Irish band. The footwork "battering" is great fun to watch and listen to. These are typically done as a solo performer or in very small groups and are well suited to all ages.

Search and Rescue (Ground) – Central Avalon Holyrood

Objective:

Central Avalon Ground Search and Rescue team covers the area from Holyrood to Colliers, west to Roaches Line, the Salmonier Line, the entire Southern Shore and the East Coast Trail south of the boundary of the City of St. John's. The team works with transport Canada to provide safe boating presentations and is also actively involved in presenting the Hug-a-tree and Survive Outside programs which teach young people how to stay safe in the woods and what to do should they become lost.

Search and Rescue – Avalon North Wolverines Bay Roberts

Objective:

Members are experienced in forest and ground searches. They provide support for the RCMP when requested. All members receive initial training and certification in map reading, compass use, first aid, CPR, night searches, and other SAR techniques from the RCMP. Tasked by the RCMP. Founded 1985. Fifty volunteer members who are very proud that they have completely paid for their rescue van. Search for missing persons, offers a boat safety course

Search and Rescue Team – Exploits Grand Falls-Windsor

Objective:

The Exploits Search and Rescue Team is a highly trained and well equipped volunteer emergency response unit serving communities throughout Central Newfoundland. Members of the Exploits Search and Rescue team receive basic training in map and compass and GPS navigation, radio communications, first aid, wilderness survival, the psychology of lost persons, and search techniques and procedures.
